Accommodation and Facilities

The Campsite

Enfuzi Community Campsite is set on the forested rim of a volcanic crater lake in the lush Rwenzori foothills at Lake Nkuruba.

Being just a stone’s throw from a local church and orphanage, Enfuzi Community Campsite is a great opportunity to truly experience the vibrant local culture within one of Uganda’s most unique and exciting locations. We regularly host visitors tracking chimpanzees in the Kibale Forest National Park and those en route to Gorilla trekking in Bwindi/Rwanda. It is only a 2 ½ hour drive from one of the most spectacular river safaris in Africa in Queen Elisabeth National Park. The owner of the campsite, Pastor John Bosco, will be happy to take you there for the small price of petrol and his admission ticket.

Facilities
Taking in the stunning views of Queen Elisabeth National Park, the Crater Lake and tea plantations within touching distance of over three species of monkeys is a truly serene and unforgettable experience.

We have areas for you to pitch your own tent or, if you prefer a little more luxury, why not opt to stay in one of the purpose built thatched roofed bungalows (bandas). Every banda has solar powered lighting and sleeps between 2 and 5 people. Bedding, pillows and mosquito nets are all provided. The campsite is extremely safe and is under 24 hour surveillance.

Day visits to the campsite are £1.50 (UShs5,000) per person
and one night is around £4.30 (UShs15,000).
£1 = approximately UShs3,500

There is an ablutions hut with running water and typical toilet facilities (basic but functional).

There is a large dining/ chill out area to sample the guacamole and chapatti, charge phones and plan the day ahead.

The shower is an amazing open-air bamboo enclosure available anytime of the day. However, at night it offers the most amazing experience of showering under the stars. Just let the staff know when you wish to shower and they will heat up the water for you. The shower itself is a rustic bucket and tap (dangling above your head by a rope), which allows you to control how much water you use - the principle is simple ... the experience priceless.

Food and Drink
Experience one of our excellent, homemade meals from our sizeable menu and you are more than welcome to learn about and watch them being made. Both the food and drink (alcoholic and soft) are affordable and available on request. You cannot leave without sampling the goat curry and be sure to try Felix’s famous guacamole; it really is to die for. Also, ask Felix about his home-grown ‘medicinal’ plants if you really want to take chilling to the next level ;o)

Activities
We organise guided tours and activities that include swimming and teaching the orphans to swim in the lake, chimpanzee tracking in the Kibale Forest National Park, day trips to Queen Elisabeth National Park, hiking to the Mahoma waterfall and visits to local villages and markets (Rwaihamba). We have guides available for those wishing to go on nature walks, do some bird-watching or tour the tea estates. Bicycle hire is possible at very affordable rates. On site there is an amazing 150 square meter fresh-water Crater Lake. A morning swim there is one of the most inspiring wake-up calls you will ever have the pleasure of experiencing.
